Theropods

Theropods were bipedal creatures (they walked on two legs) that were also the only group of dinosaurs that were carnivorous. They also have the largest range of sizes from the bird sized Compsognathus to the famed Tyrannosaurus Rex. Though the name 'theropod' means 'beast (mammal) foot' theropods actually had a foot of a bird. This means their feet were the same as the feet on a bird. Theropods are classified by their tiny arms with three fingers/toes on each hand/foot and a claw for each finger/toe as well as hollow bones. Therefore birds are actually theropods. There were two theropods to live in Australia. These are Australovenator wintonesis and Ozraptor.
